The importance of dental hygiene shouldn’t be underestimated since dental health is essential for overall health and well-being. Poor dental hygiene can lead to various oral health issues, including cavities, gum disease, and tooth loss.

However, it is undeniable that dental procedures can be quite an expense. And because of how high the cost of dental care can be, it is not surprising that low-income individuals, their families, and seniors are looking for a free program to help them shoulder the dental expenses.

One of the programs that made waves is called Free Dental Alliance. It spread across social media as a government project aiming to provide free dental work for senior citizens.

How true is this program, and how can you enjoy its benefits? Continue reading to find out.

What Is Free Dental Alliance

What Is Free Dental Alliance

Fake news has become an increasingly pervasive problem in today's digital world. Unfortunately, the dental field is not immune from the spread of misinformation.

Recently, a new organization called Free Dental Alliance has been making headlines for allegedly providing free dental care to low-income individuals. However, the truth is it is not a legitimate organization, and the claims made about its services are false.

Instead, people can access a company called Dental Alliance Dental Plan. It is not an insurance carrier. It is a licensed dental savings plan offered through various local offices.

The Dental Alliance Dental Plan provides people access to free examinations and x-rays for dental procedures. Aside from that, they offer 20 to 60% off other services at a growing community of participating dental offices across California.

Is It Real?

In May 2022, a Facebook video post that talks about a Free Dental Alliance or Senior Dental Alliance program linked to Medicare spread out all across the internet.

In this video, they announced that Medicare will now cover dental work and dental procedures through the program. They made it seem like people born before 1957 could get free dental benefits by showing an envelope with Medicare Benefits Payment check inside at the end of the video.

But, upon fact-checking, there are no terms called Free Dental Alliance or Senior Dental Alliance program on the official Medicare website.

If you wish to get dental coverage, you should look into Medicare Advantage Plans. These are plans offered by private companies following set rules and guidelines set by Medicare.
